Things To Do In The Area

One of the many things that guests often say about the area is the friendliness of the people.

They are also surprised at the lovely countryside that surrounds the area known as the Black Country and the plethora of things to do. Many return to visit what they missed first time round

Black Country Museum is the main tourist attraction probably in this area. This well known destination is amazing at any time of the year and often has special days.

The Rock Houses, Kinver were lived in until the mid 1900’s and are now a popular National Trust site.

Kinver itself is a pretty village with a Norman Church.

The Red House Glass Cone Living History with glass blowing demonstrations and an insight to Stourbridges past.

Severn Valley Railway (www.svr.co.uk) Steam trains with special days throughout the year. Very popular.

Bewdley Safari Park (www.wmsp.co.uk) The entry is a little pricey but kids love it.

Witley Court (www.english-heritage.org.uk/WitleyCourt) Dramatic and romantic ruins where the royals were entertained at lavish house parties. Elaborate parterre gardens and monumental fountains.

Warwick Castle (www.warwick-castle.com) There are displays throughout the year. Look out for vouchers on the internet for a cheaper entry price) Great for all the family.

Bridgnorth is a town situated in the Severn valley. It is split into high town and low town. Great Saturday market and the oldest and steepest inland funicular railway in the country. Lovely vintage shops and a great butchers.

Birmingham is a wonderful second City here in the UK. Amazing shopping and food with all cuisines. Fabulous Michelin starred restaurants and also famous for its Balti restaurants there really is something for every taste and budget. Easy to get to with direct trains from Stourbridge (About 25 minutes) or a short car journey.

Worcester is also on the main train line from Stourbridge and has a wonderful Cathedral alongside the river Severn.

It is also worth mentioning that as we are in the centre of England most places are accessible for day trips with trains running from Stourbridge junction to London several times a day.
